The IBO introduced a new syllabus for the main science subjects in August 2023 for exams from May 2025. Our authors have been taking the first cohort of students through the updated courses and have been busy rewriting their study guides to take account of the changes, and in particular looking at the areas that students have been finding the most challenging.
A key change for biology, chemistry and physics is the removal of the four options for each subject. Some of the content has been incorporated into the core while other elements have been dropped as part of a significant reorganisation of the subject units. This has resulted in big changes for our science study and revision guides.
The science guides are our most in-depth books and the new editions reflect a substantial amount of work. The first new books are expected to be published by the summer, with Chemistry HL and Biology HL leading the line-up.
We also have a new edition of the Physics SL&HL Internal Assessment guide which is nearly ready to go to print, with the other sciences to follow.
